So, I saw Carmen Caliente here perform in this gown, and this image popped into my head. We’ve been trying to figure out ways to get her out of her pin up box, and she was a trooper, braving nature and cold creeks. We did get a lot of questioning looks about why there was a candelabra in the water…
First Spring Shoot
Lily and I went to the UW campus to welcome back spring….
3rd Blogiversary!
This year has been really interesting…I paused worrying about selling prints, and just let myself shoot freely. That break really gave me a lot of freedom, so I think I’m going to listen to myself and do that when I think it’ll help me. I met some amazing new people to create with…BIG shout out to Celeste at Poppy Seed Roll Costuming for the incredible styling, laughs, and introductions…and continued working with people I love to work with. I even got a reunion with Heather, my east coast muse! Winter was difficult, but all my fantastic subjects, especially Lily VonTrapp and Lyz, kept me busy and got me through it. Now, I just finished shooting the lovelies of After Midnight Cabaret and am working on a little video project for them. I continued with my naked, honest body love project, and will continue to do so. Seattle became a lot more fun this past year!
Thank you all for reading and viewing! As always, love yourselves.
Malia
This shoot has been a year in the making! Malia lives in Hawaii and we finally got together last week. We wandered Seward Park and found this amazing hollowed tree to play in. Perfect for a spring renewal theme.
Mari
Time is precious, people. Don’t waste it. Have a beautiful day.
Swingtime!
Ok, not the music, but there was a swing involved! It was my 15th anniversary yesterday, and my husband and I decided to celebrate with our second shoot with Mari, in a pretty fantastic studio space (Locket Space is SoDo Seattle). Beautiful big windows, great light, and nifty set options, including this swing.
Mari, of course, is a joy to shoot. Even watching her warm up is impressive! I glanced over, and there she was on her back, kicking her legs all the way to the floor behind her shoulder. Plenty more to come!
Tudor Fairytale
Tudor time! Celeste of Poppyseed Roll Clothing and I got together with Jordan here for a royal, Tudor inspired shoot. Celeste made this entire outfit, once again blowing my mind with her attention to detail. Jordan made a perfect Tudor model, and don’t worry, managed to keep her head attached to her body. We shot this at Saint Edwards State Park, one of my favorite places in the Pacific Northwest…the first shot is actually part of a playground…work with what you’ve got, right?

Russian Style Fairytale, Pt.2
It’s funny how you can completely change the vibe of an image by removing the color. Please see the previous post for the color versions and shoot details!
Russian Style Fairytale
Sometimes the stars align and you meet the right people. I was completely delighted when Celeste of Poppyseed Roll Clothing reached out on instagram to discuss working together. She hand makes all her designs, and I was pretty blown away. I recruited Lyz to model, Celeste invited Michelle, a wonderful makeup artist, and we got together to create these Anastasia inspired Russian Fairytale Princess images. We had originally planned to shoot in a park, but Lyz suggested the Suzallo Library, and I’m glad she did.
I would have been happy enough with the results, but when a team has so much fun working together, all the better! And my cat tried to get into EVERYTHING during prep. Of course.

Loving the Rain
I must say, it was a bit of a gamble moving to Seattle. I was (yes, was) one of those people heavily affected by winter weather back east, and I wasn’t sure how I’d handle the rainy reputation of the Pacific Northwest. Good news! I’ve learned to love moments in the rain. I’m not going to lie and say I love it all the time…but, I’ve learned to appreciate moments. I love the way the gray sky makes colors seem brighter. I love the way the raindrops feel on my skin. I love the sound it makes on the tent when camping. Overall, I feel more peace in winter than I ever have before.
Here’s Mari, stretching in her rain boots! Carkeek park.
