Goodbye to an NYC Icon

NYC mourns as FAO Schwarz is closing.  My last visit, interestingly enough, was with Monique and Julia.  I went to middle school with Monique, and haven’t seen much of her since then, but thanks to social media, we reconnected.  We decided to get together yesterday to take some pictures of her and her adorable daughter, who just turned 2.  After a walk through central park, we walked through those familiar doors for the last time.  Mission?  The big piano you play by walking on, of course.

I’m happy I was able to capture this moment between mother and daughter.  It was a fun way to tie in the past, present, and future, although a little sad at the same time.  Onwards.

Sam Spade Meets Fosse

theda031

This is one of my last shoots in apt 1003, and I can’t take credit for the concept.  Theda came with the idea to do a Maltese Falcon/Sam Spade turned into a Fosse/burlesque type thing, so we took full advantage of the pre-war setting.  This was after I had her doing strange gymnastics in the fireplace…

Age? Just a Number…

I hear lots and lots of moaning about aging, being too old to look hot, why bother…

Well, guess what?  It’s never too late.  I’ve done several shoots with women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70+ and they were so much fun to do.  Why?  How much they ended up ENJOYING it…it actually brought out a very youthful energy in them as they relaxed into it.  A little sparkle and mischievous smile and we’re in business.  I kind of loved having to tell a friends mom to show more leg.

Unfortunately, I can’t share most of that here since they were private shoots and I have to respect people’s privacy.  I will show you Jennifer, a model not in her teens or 20’s (bet you can’t guess exactly), showing how to work it…

If you’re in or around NYC, please feel free to contact me here about setting up a shoot:  Book a Shoot!
