Another way to have fun doing photos is getting to be any character you want! Anduin and I wanted to create a modern interpretation of Ophelia from Hamlet. It was the dead of winter, so we had to make do with a bathtub…
Black and White Nude
I love working with a team…but I love being one on one with people too. This young woman has been doing figure modeling on the side for quite some time…other careers have included management and the Peace Corps, and now she’s getting her Masters. This shoot took place in just under an hour with some chatting. I’ll show you more in an upcoming entry, but that one will require more writing time. I love the elegance in her movements!
Happy Easter!
Dominance, Submission, Shiny
How do you know you have a cool mom? The following conversation:
“Elizabeth, where did that slippery spot on the living room floor come from?”
“Um…I had a dominatrix standing on your fireplace and the slippery spot must be from the stuff that makes her catsuit shiny. Oops.”
“Oh, ok, make sure you clean it up.”
“Yes Mom…”
I’ve shot many a person in the shiny gear, sometimes people in the lifestyle, sometimes people just exploring with the way it feels on camera. Throw in my tendency to think of something ridiculous on the spot, and here’s a range….

Corsets!
I loves me some corsets. I don’t loves me wearing them for too long…I do love shooting them though. Makes for beautiful lines, and not to mention, posture. I’ve been fascinated with them since I was a kid. I remember seeing Meet Me in St. Louis on Broadway, and getting to go to the dressing room of one of the actresses. She was absolutely wonderful to me…I remember the dress she had to wear on stage…that thing weighed a ton! The corset she wore underneath was authentic to the time period of the play. Later in life after trying my first, I was thoroughly impressed that she could sing in that thing! Anyway, corsets do tend to pop up in my shoots pretty often, and I notice the models attitude shift into a slightly more badass mode ;). Don’t worry, never had a model pass out on me.
Natural Light
Sometimes I like to ditch my big power flash and just use natural light. This one was shot with film and window light. Kinda funny, with the blue wig and the dress, this was supposed to be more of a glamour shoot, but when I saw the way her coloring looked by this window, I scrapped that idea. Sometimes it’s the last minute decisions…
Oh, and I really miss having blue hair! Maybe Heather will let me borrow her wig…
Cats and Photo Shoots
Why I am NOT an Intimidating Photographer!
I will get into many undignified positions to get the shot…seriously…
I will probably forget to take off the lens cap at first…
You will be rocking out to the music of your choice!
You can pose with a bear sword if you want!
I will explain why I have a bear sword in the first place…
I know the good angles!
We will style you to look like you at your best, or play dress-up!
If you don’t like a shot, it gets deleted…I’m here to make you look good!
If I need to entertain you by dancing on a chair, I have and will do that!
Oh…and I might put goldfish crackers on you…or something equally ridiculous 🙂
